The Cramer Mountain Club offers four lighted Har-Tru Clay Tennis Courts and one Hard Court with Hank Avants as the Head Tennis Professional.
Hank is a second-generation player. His family was USTA family of the year in 2000. Hank and his wife both played in college and are USPTA P1 professionals and USTA high-performance coaches. Their daughter played in the junior level (#2 in the nation at age 15) and WTA for 5 years. You don’t have to move like Roger Federer or Serena Williams to enjoy tennis; it is a fun and exciting sport that anyone can play. Our facilities provide you with every opportunity to improve your swing and become a better player. Hank and his team will assist you in any way they can, whether it is for playing tips or how to execute each stroke perfectly. We offer group and private lessons throughout the year and give members access to online court booking and tournament registration as well as a brand new ball machine to groove your game.
Our wonderful Har-Tru Tennis Courts are made from billion-year-old Pre-Cambrian Metabasalt found in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. It is a natural green stone that is extremely hard and angular, two very important qualities when it comes to court construction. The angularity helps the stone particles lock together to form a stable playing surface. The hardness provides exceptional durability. The natural green color is classically class and instantly recognizable. The stone is crushed, screened, and mixed in the precise proportions necessary to produce a stable playing surface. It is then installed over a porous base of crushed stone aggregate to produce the final product, making it a first-rate tennis court.
We want our members to enjoy playing the sport they love. This is precisely why we use only the best materials for our facility. We aim to provide first-rate and memorable experiences each time a member swings and scores a point.
